Just saw a post from a Facebook friend with the following thought - "Is web evangelism about asking or answering questions?" I think the easy answer is both, but scratch just below the surface and there is a lot to consider here.
More and more these days I am beginning to ask questions about the view of Internet evangelism that involves giving information and asking for a response from those reading that information. I'm not ready to say that is not a valid means of evangelism, but I think I am ready to say that, for me, that is not enough to fit a good definition of effective evangelism. I do not want to, and will not, discount the possibility that the Holy Spirit can use such a "one way" presentation of the Gospel (or at least propositions about the Gospel) to bring someone to a conviction of sin and their need for a Savior. But my experience with effective evangelism involves a lot more give and take, a lot more listening and responding, than this model allows. And I think that those of us who profess to be involved in Internet Evangelism need to be thinking a lot more thoroughly about how we are presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ and to what we are calling people ... an "indicated decision" or a life of following Him.
More thoughts on this later.
